Biosafety

Biosafety is a set of measures aimed at infection control in the dental clinic and it is a mandatory item in health services. Theseactionsare used to avoid cross-contamination of materials or infected environments, therefore protecting patients and staff.

At SpaRelancer all biosafety principles are strictly followed!

The dental rooms undergo a cleaning procedure between each patient which consists of garbage disposal, sterelization of chairs, benches and tables and change of protective barriers.

The sterilization of dental materials is of utmost importance for obvious reasons! For proper sterilization, the autoclaving cycles must be monitored. Monitoring is nothing more than the sterilization quality control and it is as important as the equipment cycle itself, because it will guarantee that the material is suitable for use. Monitoring is necessary because there may be sterilization failures due to errors caused by operators (when they do not use automatic autoclaves), the equipment, or combined errors. The objective of this control is to detect any kind of failure.

The daily practice in dental offices requires compliance with biosafety standards and the adoption of standard precautions. The dental team must perform a safe clinical practice, adopting all the current provisions for the control of infections. The term biosafety is very broad – It comprises legislation, current regulations, patient care, history, knowledge of diseases and oral manifestations, PPE, as well as everything that relates to cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, waste disposal, occupational diseases and accidents at work.

In our offices we are thoroughly committed to following these practices.

Dental Biosafety is supported by three pillars:
Individual Protection (professionals, patients and disposal of waste).
Disinfection and change of barriers (behavior in service, disposables).
Sterilization and Monitoring.

All instruments should be washed properly and preferably using an ultrasonic tank with specific detergents that will promote a more effective cleaning.
